We are proud to present to you and to our country the Zefirya Culture and Arts Centre. We hope Zefirya will be a meeting point, bringing together audiences and world-class artists.
In our first year we are privileged to be in collaboration with the International Gümüşlük Classical Music Festival. Aktur is proud to be a supporter of the arts.
According to both Azra Erhat’s mythological dictionary and art historian Doc. Dr. Bedrettin Cömert’s book ‘Mythology and Iconography’ Zephyros was the god of western wind. Zephyros is also frequently mentioned in Homer’s “Odysseia”. Zephyros was the son of Astraios and Eos, the goddess of dawn. He lived in the caves of Trakya. By the Harpy Podarge, Zephyrus became the father of the immortal horses Xanthus and Balius, which carried Archilles’ carriage. Much later, the fragrant wind that heralds the beginning of Spring gains its identity as the Zefirya wind.
The people of Bodrum know this afternoon summer wind that blows from sea to land – and in the mornings from land to sea; its welcome touch that refreshes us… This refreshing breeze and the region that it blows in – This is Zefirya.
